Thank you for your message, and interest in LIFI Light sources. We have a few customers that have done some saltwater reef testing. Coral growth and water penetration test results were very good. Our high CRI product provides very vivid colors. The increased efficiency, and reduced IR output (reducing water heating), and long life are good features when used in this application in order to reduce operating costs. Our small directional point source also provides much better coupling into light pipes, which provide a means of light distribution that allows the lamps to not have to be hung over the tanks themselves improving access and minimizing blocking of direct sun lighting from above. Our dimmability enables day lighting in order to maximize natural lighting when available and further reduce operating costs. These are some of the features that are normally mentioned when this application is considered.
Luxim is a manufacturer of light sources. We are not making lighting fixtures. We have spoken with a number of companies that are considering bringing out lighting fixtures that are planned for use in different sized aquariums, and some companies are in the process of testing/qualifying for use.
Given this status what questions do you have? How can we support your interests in tank lighting?
Thank you again for your interest in Luxim LIFI light sources. We are pleased to quote a development kit for you, which will allow you to gain familiarity with our lamp products and technology.
There are three components to the development kit:
1. The lamp. The STA and ENT series of lamps are comprised of two components – an emitter and a driver. The INT and PRJ series of lamps are single unit integrated light sources. The version of LIFI lamp that is best for your application can be identified by looking at the product and application sections of our website (
www.luxim.com), or we will be happy to discuss your intended use with you to assist you.
2. An accessory kit that includes power supply to provide a desk-top standalone system for testing purposes. The lamps do not plug directly into the wall but require a 28V source, and the power supply has the required connectors to provide a system that is ready to go from the box. We have not integrated the power supply into the lamp driver because many of the products that our light sources go into already have low voltage power supplies, and in the case of general lighting the power supply of choice will depend on the type of fixture you are going to use. The power supply provided in our development kit is the same regardless of lamp type, but the wiring is different based on series. There are additional components in the respective development kits to provide a functional system for you with little additional hardware required. For example, the STA and ENT series drivers do not require active cooling, but are intended to be integrated into a lighting fixture with appropriate heatsinking and the demo kit provides a simulated fixture heat sink. The INT and PRJ series are actively cooled and come with the appropriate fan systems for those lamps.
3. Communications kit. This interface allows you to control the lamp further using our customer Graphical User Interface. You can operate the lamp without the GUI as a simple on/off lamp, but to get full use of the dimming controls and other system controls you will want to use the GUI connection. The GUI software is specific to the family of lamps that you use, as they have different control functions in support of different applications.

000 ore..ovviamente dati di targa).....il prezzo è ancora alto....ma effettivamente inferiore ad un sistema a LED....ma il punto forte secondo me...è la facilità di montaggio...visto che si può usare un riflettore tipo Lumenarc...senza le complicanze di cablaggio e raffreddamento dei LED....vedremo se sarà il futuro...o solo un bluff.
