I'm not too sure that black bar type is dominant in a large colony. My Wild Class "N" colonies have been going at least 8 years and by no means are the black bars in any way the dominant type in these colonies. Now my colonies are fairly large with the largest probably 500,000 fish and 4 others having at least 250,000 fish per colony but the dominant fish in these seems to be center peacock, with flame tail, double red, and orange chest all being close seconds. Other types include snake chest, red line and others in the colony but lower numbers, black bars are there but not dominant by any means.
I also have mixed colonies of 1000 to 2000 fish and they show the same traits as the larger colonies.
Now all of my information is about my fish traced back to the 1998 collection and may vary from other collection dates and areas.
